Doodles on Newspapers - Epic Battles.

My husband and I enjoy playing Sudoku in the newspapers here. But sometimes we get a bit off track and start doodling all over.  My big fishie is saying: I am your dreaming.  Awaken!  Or something along those lines.  While his evil spider man with human head is saying something like: HOLY SHIT THAT'S A HUGE FISH!  And evolving into a hand with a gun to kill it.  So violent!
Yeah, we're dorks.  I love him.
I also just doodle fishies at random on newspapers.  It just happens.  I have a short attention span, haha.

Postcard 4 - Smoking Fishie

This is a postcard I made for my sister-in-law.  We hadn't been able to get a hold of her in ages, so we figured we'd send her a nice letter, just in case she was down.  And to let her know we loved her and were not forgetting her.   The letter was actually a little booklet made out of index cards cut up and glued together then stapled to make the booklet effect.
Reyna and I have a love for fishies.  Koi and goldfishies mostly.  So I thought it appropriate to send her a postcard with a fishie and her fave patter.  Pink and black checker board.  :)

I scanned it before I wrote anything on the bottom.  I've forgotten what I wrote, but here's the post card she received.
Just another:
Have a good day, we love you!  Post card for friends and family and loved ones all 'round.  :)

Custom Shoes - Finished!

They are finally finished. This is the pair of shoes I've been working on for my mum for like a month now. I had one shoe left to finish and SMASH! Blocked. 'twas terrible.

But I got to finish them tonight. The pictures look atrocious because my camera sucks and they were taken at 2 am, but deal with me here, eh?

Prismacolor markers. Acrylics. Sharpies. Glitter Gel Pens. Cheap Shoes.

Something Something

Changing the blog Template for a second while I make it a new banner and change the colours. It'll just look funky for a bit. Maybe a day. Sorry 'bout that.

Meanwhile, here's some old art.

Magical Fish Kisses

Again, I fucking love fishies. I want this on a shirt or hoodie design. I don't care. I really need to finish it. I think I'll make it digital and put it on clothes. It's rather lovely. I've always liked it. Had it around for ages but only recently inked some of it. And only now thinking of finishing it and doign SOMETHING with it.

Self Portrait # 2

Back when I wanted to get back into DA I wanted to make a nice little self portrait of me to put on my page. You know, everyone draws their own so I wanted to do my own as well. I sketched this pretty out one night and have yet to finish it. I need to fix the breasts of course, and now I have dreads on one side and a shaved head on the other...but fuck it. I think it came out pretty fucking good.

I love mushrooms. I love suns. I love koi fish. You know this already. It's everywhere in my art. I'll get tired of it soon, I swear!

Progress on website!

So last night after posting the sketches and such I went ahead and found that piece of denim. Cutting it was a bitch because I couldn't find scissors for the life of me so I had to do it with a knife. But I managed. It was such an ordeal, putting modeling paste on it, mixing in the water, sprinkling a bit of tobacco here and there, adding some coffee to the mixture. And then I let it dry.

Today I actually sketched out the design on it, hopefully tomorrow I'll get to paint it and have it ALMOST ready.

Will have to fix certain coloration on photoshop. But otherwise it's looking good.

MUST remember I have to go shopping for art supplies. I need more sharpies, more pencil lead, more prismas, some ghesso and some modeling paste!

I'm thinking i might add some more coffee stains to this. Maybe? Possibly? Dunno yet, we'll see once I start colouring it.

Also, my uncle wants me to work some designs on this odd felt cowboy hat he has... well.... I'll see what I can do, haha. I'll take pictures later.

Oh! And my husband said I can show off some of the pipes he's carved lately, so I'll be doing that possibly tomorrow :)

Delirium- Failed attempt Sketch

I'm a total Sandman fan. I love the endless. I love Neil Gaiman, all his works. But of the Endless, my favorite has got to be Delirium. I wanted a Delirium tat on my shoulder some time back, and I was trying to make some designs for it. Of course I was at work and just had time to doodle something quick with a pen, but whatever.

My posts aren't very colorful, new or interesting lately, sorry. I've just been working on a million new projects and I've finished none of them yet. But I will very soon, I promise! In fact, I'm going to get to work on them right now.

Husband's been working very diligently on this pipe he's carving. It's the first thing he did when he woke up. Once he finishes it I'm going to make a post with some of his artwork on it ^.^ Including his wonderful looking pipe.

He totally promised me a mushroom shaped one. <3

P.S: Total coffee stain on her head, haha.

Postcards + stickers = Awesome

A fried of mine gave me a bunch of these. So I decided to make postcards. These were my first attempts. Now I'm working on postcards for friends and family members.

Postcards that turn into stickers, hell yes!

Patches!

So my husband was making a patch for his new back pack. He cut up some denim into sort of an explosion shape bubble thing. So I asked him for the little pieces left over to use for myself.

So, here are some patches I made for my belt purse. I'll take pics of them on the belt pouch once I get them on there.

Also, started working on the last shoe! Yay!

One shoe down, one to go and a dozen or so pairs to start!

So doing shoes has resulted in quite a success. I really enjoy myself decorating and playing around. And people seem to like my designs. I've been getting a few requests but I've no idea what to charge. I'm running out of markers so I guess I should prolly include those in the price. I use prismacolors and copic markers. They seem to work the best on shoes. I'm also thinking on using some acrylics, like what I did with the soles in orange and yellow.

I'd really like some suggestions on prices. I mean, will people want nice looking expensive shoes like the mcbeth's? Or will they be alright with cheap ass shoes like the ones I made for my mom? The difference isn't that great, unless you're looking deeo into the details and fibers but....charging prices, right. Any ideas?

I was thinking of having people buy their own shoes and send them to me for decorating. Or ask them their shoe size and what type of shoe they'd like. According to those outlines, give them a price for the shoes and est. work time and material costs..... Anyone have suggestions?

P.s: Marisa, what shall we call our shoe business?

Work in Progress- Mums shoes

So after I finished my husband's McBeths my mother wanted a pair of her own. So she went out and bought these plain white canvas shoes. They're basic edition brand, so they're pretty cheap. They only cost her ten USD + tax.

I'm still working on them, I started just last night and worked till the sun came up. I've had them sitting by my bed for about a week now. It's always hard to start on a new project. That white canvas always feel so daunting. So I let them sit. I doodled on paper what I might do on the shoes. I was so afraid to do something wrong or something my mother wouldn't like. But eventually I picked them up and just went for it. So far, I'm liking the results.

So far I have learned that painting on cheap shoes is much harder than on expensive shoes. Seeing as expensive shoes have a tighter knit, it is much easier for the pen/marker to roll on them without having any in between white dots. But on cheap shoes the fabric is thick and woven loosely. Making it hard for ink to stick. It leaves a lot of blank dots in between.

On the up side, the ink bleeds a lot more on the cheaper shoes than on the expensive shoes, making color blending much easier.

Web Design Sketches

A lot of times when I'm bored and just doodling I think up website ideas. I've yet to make my own website where I'd have my portfolio and my written work. I constantly sketch out ideas for my future web site. Of course I've never sat down and started to construct it, but it's always nice to have a preliminary sketch of anything you're going to do in the future. And, of course, as you build it digitally the idea evolves and changes depending on materials, space, technique, skill, etc. But it always turns out great.

This sketch was for my Mad Messiah website I was planing on making. Maybe someday I'll finish it. And by finish I mean at the very least, start it.

A self portrait. I <3 Fishies and fishies <3 me

I love fishies. And rainbows. And Dreams, and flying, and mushrooms and mushroom clouds. Also clouds and swirlies and my mohawk and hearts and suns and rolling hills and stars and crescent moons.
